This on-site training was organized to help service members about to return to civilian life transition smoothly into society after discharge. By informing them in advance about the key support policies such as the national veterans benefits system and the career transition support system for veterans, the Gwangju Veterans Support Center enabled those scheduled for discharge to fully focus on their remaining military duties and jointly prepare for their post-military career planning.
The day's training focused on practical support programs such as the veterans' career transition grant, employment and entrepreneurship assistance, and vocational education and training. Detailed guidance was provided on application methods and usage procedures. This initiative aims to reduce cases in which service members miss out on or underutilize these programs immediately after discharge, and to help them systematically prepare for a second chapter in life after their military careers.
Kim Misook, Director of the Center and the event’s organizer, stated, "We will continue to provide career transition support services to help veterans settle into society based on the experience and skills they have gained in the military. We will also actively promote the veterans support system and focus on providing practical employment support through ongoing on-site training at military bases."
