"My Physical Condition Has Greatly Improved Compared to Last Year"
Lee Kyunghun has pledged to deliver a strong performance at his sponsor's tournament.
On May 19 (local time), he attended the official press conference for the PGA Tour's The CJ Cup Byron Nelson (total prize money of 10.3 million dollars) held at TPC Craig Ranch (par 71) in McKinney, Texas, United States. Last season, Lee took a medical leave due to a hip injury, and although he returned in February this year and played in three tournaments, he missed the cut in all of them.

Watching Im Sungjae and Kim Siwoo compete made me want to play again as well." He added, "By combining swimming and working out, I built up good physical condition. During this period, my main sponsor CJ quietly believed in me and waited, so I want to repay them by performing even better."

Lee has a strong track record at this tournament. The Byron Nelson event had AT&T, a U.S. company, as its main sponsor until the 2022–2023 season, with CJ taking over for the 2024 season. Lee achieved back-to-back victories at this event in 2021 and 2022. Confidently, he said, "Compared to last year, my physical condition has improved a lot. I have no problem walking and playing." He added, "To keep my tour card, I need to play well in the remaining tournaments. This is what I will focus on."
