Gyeonggi Fire Department to Conduct Fire Safety Inspections at 3,960 Election Facilities in the Province
The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct fire safety inspections at 3,960 election facilities in the province ahead of the '9th Nationwide Local Elections' scheduled for June 3, 2026.
According to an announcement on May 20, the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters will carry out fire safety inspections at a total of 3,960 locations by June 3, including 48 vote-counting stations, 3,310 polling stations, and 602 early voting stations throughout the province.
The Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters is conducting fire safety inspections together with on-site personnel by visiting election-related facilities, including polling and vote-counting stations, ahead of the local elections scheduled for June. View original imageDuring this period, the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters will check whether fire protection systems are functioning properly and will focus on inspecting for any obstructions around emergency exits, evacuation facilities, and fire protection facilities. In particular, considering the characteristics of the facilities such as crowding on election day and late-night vote counting, special emphasis will be placed on evacuation environments and initial response systems.
Additionally, fire station chiefs will personally visit polling and vote-counting stations to identify fire hazards, and for facilities currently under construction, the headquarters will also provide voluntary safety management consulting.
