A total of 10 institutions—including 1 kindergarten, 3 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 3 high schools—have either been completed or are currently under development.
In the case of Segyo 2 District, full-scale move-ins began in July 2023. Due to the district’s elongated north-south geography, there was a need for new schools in both the northern and southern zones. In response, Lee has taken swift action, visiting the central government, the National Assembly, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education to advocate for the early establishment of schools.
As a result, schools have been newly established or are underway in the following areas: in the northern zone (Moolbit Narae Kindergarten, Saedam Elementary School, Osan Software High School) and in the southern zone (Osan Elementary School, Maru Elementary School, Gasu Middle School, Maru High School, Segyo 2-3 High School).
Notably, Osan Software High School, which is about to open, is also planning to transition into an AI Meister High School specializing in the AI and semiconductor industries in the future.
In addition, efforts have been made to establish Segyo 2-1 Middle School in the northern zone. This project is currently in the stage where the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is determining the appropriate school size for the area.
The establishment of Yangsan 1st Middle School is also considered a significant achievement. Previously, due to a shortage of middle schools in Yangsan-dong, local students had to transfer their residence registration to Hwaseong and commute to middle schools in that city.
After taking office as mayor, Lee proactively engaged in discussions with the Office of Education. In 2024, the project passed the central investment review by the Ministry of Education, and it is now moving forward with the goal of opening in 2027.

Candidate Lee Kwonjae stated, "I have always believed that establishing new schools is not an option but a necessity to create stable residential conditions and foster a positive learning environment for students. As a re-elected mayor, I will ensure that projects scheduled to begin construction do so as soon as possible, closely monitor ongoing projects so they are completed and opened quickly, and personally meet with the provincial superintendent of education to achieve these goals."
