American Man in His 40s Missing in Namsan Dramatically Found After 15 Hours

Found on Hiking Trail After Joint Police and Fire Search
A man in his 40s, an American national who had gone missing in the Namsan area of Seoul, was found approximately 15 hours after a missing person report was filed, following a search by police and fire authorities.
According to Yonhap News on the 19th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul discovered the American man, referred to as Mr. A, on a hiking trail in the Namsan area around 3 p.m. while conducting a search after his disappearance.
Mr. A had reportedly left a message for acquaintances the previous day saying, "I want to die," after which he lost contact. It is known that at the time, he disappeared while carrying a weapon.
When found, Mr. A was still in possession of the weapon, but his health was determined to be stable. Police have confirmed that Mr. A was unemployed and had a history of taking medication for depression in the past.
Earlier, police received the missing person report around 12:30 a.m. on this day and requested assistance from fire authorities for the search. After searching the Namsan area for about 15 hours together with the special rescue team, Mr. A was found.
