Oh Sehoon: "Chung Wono Ignores Failed Real Estate Policies... Should Start With a Written Reflection"
"Jeonse and Wolse Crisis Is the Result of Lee Jaemyung Administration's Policy Failure"
"Labeling a Four-Term Mayor as Incompetent Is Classic Negative Campaigning"
On May 19, Oh Sehoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized Jeong Won-o, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate, stating, "The current severe disappearance of jeonse supply and the surge in monthly rent in Seoul are the result of the Lee Jaemyung administration's failed real estate policies," and added, "Candidate Jeong must acknowledge this and reflect on it."
After announcing his tourism pledges at Bukchon Lounge Chachati Club in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Oh met with reporters and said, "The acute disappearance of jeonse supply and the sharp rise in monthly rent in Seoul are the consequences of the government's June 27 and October 15 real estate policies," and further commented, "Whenever Candidate Jeong addresses the issues of jeonse and monthly rent, he should correct his stance and submit a letter of reflection."

View original imageRegarding the recent narrowing gap in opinion polls, Oh remarked, "This is a reflection of public sentiment toward Candidate Jeong, who is incompetent and unethical, unprepared, and unable to point out even the president's obvious mistakes." He continued, "How desperate must he be to fabricate rebar rumors in an attempt to recover declining approval ratings?"
Oh also criticized the practicality of Candidate Jeong's pledge to build a lattice-type railway network. He said, "The term for Seoul mayor is four years, and there is virtually no shortcut to radically transforming the existing transportation system," and explained, "Unless there is a revolutionary change like the comprehensive public transport transfer system implemented during former Mayor Lee Myungbak's tenure, it will be impossible to solve transportation issues at once."
He added, "Presenting effective alternatives will be much more trustworthy and appealing to citizens," and urged, "Please do not mislead citizens with pledges that sound impressive in name only, like 'ChakChak Development.'"
Oh stated, "Labeling a four-term mayor, chosen by citizens four times, as incompetent is the epitome of negative campaigning," and said, "It is surprising to hear such talk of refraining from negativity coming from Candidate Jeong. Candidate Jeong should reflect on himself."
Regarding the New Reform Party's claim that a drunkenness mitigation was applied during Candidate Jeong's past assault controversy, Oh argued, "If he was so intoxicated as to lose normal judgment and receive a reduced sentence, how could he remember whether the May 18 incident was discussed or whether there was any other inappropriate and disgraceful conduct at the gathering, as any ordinary citizen would see it? The criticism that his statements are inconsistent is valid."

Oh also criticized the Democratic Party, saying, "Currently, the entire Democratic Party has mobilized to act as Candidate Jeong's speaker, which is unbecoming of the ruling party," and added, "I cannot help but call this a very petty and mean-spirited election. The Democratic Party should feel ashamed."
