Myungsook Heo, Head Nurse at Dongnamwon Nuclear Medical Center, received a commendation from the Director of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the National Health Insurance Service in recognition of her contributions to the stable operation and quality improvement of integrated nursing care services.
The center announced on May 19 that Head Nurse Heo had received the commendation on May 13 at the "2026 Integrated Nursing Care Service Workshop" held at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon.
The workshop gathered more than 150 heads of nursing departments from long-term care institutions in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions. Commendations were awarded to individuals who contributed to the stable operation of the integrated nursing care system and the enhancement of healthcare service quality.
Head Nurse Heo has overseen related work, actively participating in policy decisions and establishing operational systems during the expansion of the integrated nursing care wards.
The nursing department at Dongnamwon Nuclear Medical Center has implemented efficient staffing and a systematic education system, established a night shift nurse system, and stably operated a substitute nurse support program to enhance patient safety and the quality of nursing services.
Additionally, the hospital has institutionalized onboarding and work-related training, updated ward operation manuals and job descriptions, and improved standardization and accuracy of work by digitizing nursing record protocols.
These efforts led to the hospital receiving the highest S grade in the 2025 Integrated Nursing Care Service performance evaluation.
Since July 2024, Dongnamwon Nuclear Medical Center has been gradually expanding its ward capacity and currently operates an integrated nursing care ward with 248 beds.
