"Protecting Public Health"... Masan Health Center Launches Full-Scale Summer Quarantine Campaign
Proactive Response to Abnormal Weather
Protecting Public Health with Eco-Friendly and Smart Quarantine Measures
Masan Health Center in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, is launching a full-scale summer quarantine campaign.
According to Masan Health Center on the 19th, as temperatures begin to rise in earnest and abnormal weather conditions persist, the occurrence of sanitary pests such as mosquitoes is increasing. In response, the center announced that it is establishing a comprehensive summer season quarantine response system to protect public health.
Recently, with a nationwide surge in mosquito populations and growing concerns about mosquito-borne infectious diseases such as Japanese encephalitis and malaria, Masan Health Center is strengthening proactive measures. This includes intensive quarantine and on-site inspections, especially focusing on vulnerable areas such as the Marine New City district, which is seeing an increasing number of visitors.

In particular, the center is moving away from one-off adult mosquito control and is now conducting year-round larvicidal treatment in potential mosquito breeding sites such as septic tanks, storm drains, and riversides. The center is also strengthening its preventive quarantine system by focusing concentrated disinfection efforts on areas with frequent complaints and other vulnerable locations.
Additionally, Masan Health Center is operating seven mobile quarantine teams and 27 autonomous local quarantine teams across towns and neighborhoods, continuing to carry out on-site quarantine activities in residential alleys, parks, and walking trails—places frequently used by residents.
Furthermore, to reinforce its eco-friendly quarantine system, the center is enhancing the efficient operation of 68 existing insect traps and 20 automatic insect repellent dispensers. It is also planning to newly install equipment and replace outdated devices, particularly in parks, walking trails, and waterfront spaces in the Marine New City area, to create a more tangible eco-friendly quarantine environment for residents.
Alongside these efforts, the center plans to gradually implement a smart quarantine system based on a GIS (Geographic Information System) pest control management program, which will analyze mosquito hotspots and complaint-prone areas to enable data-driven, evidence-based responses.

We also ask for active participation from citizens in everyday quarantine practices, such as eliminating puddles, removing discarded tires and stagnant water around homes, and properly managing septic tanks to prevent mosquito larvae from breeding."
