LS Electric Secures Another U.S. Big Tech Deal with $70 Million Power Equipment Contract
Supplying High-End Power Equipment for Data Centers
"Equipped with Technological Expertise, Quality, and On-Time Delivery"
Rising Demand Amid Constant High Loads in Data Centers
LS Electric has accelerated the expansion of its business in the North American power infrastructure market by successfully securing an order worth over 100 billion won for high-end power equipment for data centers. As demand surges for high-performance and high-reliability power devices alongside the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, the company is strengthening its position in the local power infrastructure sector by consecutively adding global big tech companies to its client portfolio.
On May 18, LS Electric announced that it had signed a contract to supply power distribution equipment worth approximately 70 million dollars (about 105 billion won) for large-scale data centers operated by a major U.S. big tech company.
With this contract, LS Electric will supply essential high-end power devices, such as vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs), for the core network of data centers. The company explained that its technology, product quality, and rigorous adherence to delivery schedules have earned recognition from big tech clients, thereby solidifying its position in the U.S. power market.
The vacuum circuit breaker is a key protection device in the power grid, distributing high-voltage electricity to various destinations. In the event of abnormalities such as a short circuit or overcurrent in the power network, it instantly interrupts the circuit to prevent costly equipment damage and large-scale fires. In hyperscale data centers, which handle massive amounts of power, these breakers are the frontline of system protection, blocking external power anomalies from entering the facility and safeguarding vast quantities of servers and data assets—making them an essential component.
In particular, hyperscale data centers serve as core IT infrastructure for global AI computation and cloud services, with hundreds of thousands of servers operating simultaneously. Even a brief interruption in power supply can result in astronomical data loss and paralyze global services, making it essential to deploy only the highest-grade (high-end) power equipment that guarantees uninterrupted power under any circumstances. The company noted that standard power devices are unable to withstand the constant high-load conditions required by data centers for extended periods, and only high-end solutions—engineered with premium materials and precision design—can ensure equipment longevity and stable operation.
Because of these risk factors, global big tech companies are prioritizing “absolute reliability” of equipment over price competitiveness when constructing data center infrastructure. The entry barrier is so high that companies lacking a proven long-term “track record of accident-free operation” and certified technical expertise are unable to even participate in bids. LS Electric stated, “Securing contracts for high-end power networks signifies official market recognition for world-class quality and stability.”
Recently, in the U.S. market, the so-called “AI bubble theory” has been dispelled, fueling an explosive increase in AI service expansion as well as large-scale investments in data centers and power infrastructure. LS Electric plans to capitalize on this trend by intensifying its North American market strategy and pursuing additional contracts. The company aims to strengthen its portfolio of customized local power solutions and further expand its market share through aggressive sales activities, taking advantage of the current boom in the North American power infrastructure sector.
