At the opening ceremony held that afternoon at MH Tower near Geumchon Station in Paju, Son emphasized unity among supporters and party members, stating, "Today is not just about Son Baechan alone; this is a gathering of a strong one team that will lead change in Paju, innovation in Gyeonggi Province, and the future of the Republic of Korea."
The event was attended by major party figures, including local National Assembly members Yoon Hoo-duk and Park Jeong, Lee Jae-gang, senior vice chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party and member of the National Assembly (Uijeongbu City Eul), Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Jo Seong-hwan, former Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Lee Yong-uk, as well as candidates for city and provincial council, citizens, and supporters who filled the venue to capacity.
In congratulatory remarks, National Assembly members Yoon Hoo-duk, Park Jeong, and Lee Jae-gang highly praised Son's legislative and administrative experience, stating in unison, "Let us come together to ensure the continued development of Paju and to improve the quality of life for its citizens."
In his greeting, Son again emphasized the unity of the progressive and democratic camp, saying, "Today is not just about Son Baechan alone; this is a gathering of a strong one team that will lead change in Paju, innovation in Gyeonggi Province, and the future of the Republic of Korea."
He continued, "The time I have spent as a city council member, city council chair, and CEO of the Youth Foundation has helped build the administrative muscle of Paju. I will boldly discard any policies that do not provide real benefits to citizens and serve as a pragmatic mayor who thinks only of the interests of the people and the development of Paju."
In particular, Son stressed, "I will incorporate the DNA of innovative, communicative administration and promise-keeping politics shown by President Lee Jae-myung into Paju's administration. Rather than making excuses for why something can't be done, I will be a mayor who finds solutions and restores the rights of our citizens."
