Average Assets of Metropolitan Mayor and Governor Candidates in Local Elections: 1.88 Billion Won, Oh Se-hoon Tops List
15 Out of 51 Candidates Hold Assets Exceeding 1.5 Billion Won
The average reported assets of the 51 candidates running for metropolitan mayor and governor positions in the 9th Nationwide Local Elections, to be held on June 3, amounted to 1.87909 billion won. Among the candidates, Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party's candidate for Seoul mayor, reported the highest amount of assets.
According to the National Election Commission, as of 8 p.m. on May 15, the deadline for candidate registration, all 51 metropolitan mayor and governor candidates had declared their asset status as of December 31 of the previous year along with their registration.

View original imageBy candidate, Oh Se-hoon reported 7.2896 billion won in assets, making him the wealthiest among all candidates. He was followed by Moon Sung-yu, the People Power Party's candidate for Jeju governor, with 5.99474 billion won, and Park Hyung-joon, the People Power Party's candidate for Busan mayor, with 5.52992 billion won.
Additionally, Yang Jung-moo, the People Power Party's candidate for North Jeolla governor, declared 5.12875 billion won, while Jung Ihan, the Reform Party's candidate for Busan mayor, reported 4.97151 billion won in assets.
Of all 51 candidates, 28 reported assets exceeding 1.5 billion won.
On the other hand, Kim Young-hwan, candidate for North Chungcheong governor, declared negative assets of -552.97 million won. Oh Joong-ki, the Democratic Party candidate for North Gyeongsang governor, reported 22.02 million won, and Kang Heerin, the Reform Party's candidate for Daejeon mayor, declared 43.27 million won in assets, respectively.
By party, the average reported assets were highest for the People Power Party at 3.25353 billion won, followed by the Democratic Party at 1.56262 billion won, the Reform Party at 1.48994 billion won, and the Progressive Party at 369.24 million won.

Among candidates from minor parties or independents, Kim Kwan-young, an independent candidate for North Jeolla governor, reported the highest assets at 2.6237 billion won. He was followed by Kwon Young-guk, the Justice Party's candidate for Seoul mayor, with 2.26597 billion won, and Kim Sung-soo, another independent candidate for North Jeolla governor, with 1.81455 billion won.
