'Teacher's Day' President Lee: "We Will Create an Environment Where Teachers Can Fully Devote Themselves to Education"
Teacher's Day Message:
"A Word from My Teacher Has Remained a Great Source of Support in My Life"
"Each Day in the Classroom Is Never Easy"
"We Will Continue to Provide Practical Support and Ongoing Change"
President Lee Jaemyung stated on May 15, in celebration of Teacher's Day, "We will do our utmost to create a better environment so that our teachers can fully devote themselves to education."
On this day, President Lee posted on Facebook under the title "To the Great Teachers Who Teach the Present and Shape the Future," saying, "We will continue to provide practical support and drive change so that teachers' passion and sense of duty never fade."
Reflecting on the meaning of a teacher, President Lee said, "As the saying goes, 'We receive life from our parents, but it is our teachers who teach us how to live it meaningfully.' Teachers are the ones who help children dream bigger and give them the strength to stand up again."
President Lee also spoke about his own childhood experiences. He said, "Thanks to the warm encouragement of my teacher during my childhood, I found the courage to move forward," adding, "Even now, after all these years, a single word from my teacher continues to be a great source of strength in my life."
He continued, "Through my teacher, I learned that someone’s sincere interest and trust can change a person’s life. I believe this experience is not unique to me, but is a cherished memory for many people in our country as well."
President Lee also addressed the challenges faced in the field of education. He said, "Every day in the classroom is never light. Teachers must understand the hearts of children who may struggle to express themselves and never disregard even the smallest words, always reading the meaning within."
He added, "There will be times when you face children's worries and wounds, sharing in their pain and tears, and I am well aware that the difficulties and responsibilities that must be shouldered in an ever-changing educational environment are only growing."
