KARI to Open Naro Space Center for Two Days During Aerospace Week
Online Reservations Begin May 15

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) is opening the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province, to the public in celebration of Aerospace Week. This offers a rare opportunity for citizens to witness the Nuri rocket launch site in person, which is usually restricted as a national security facility.

On May 14, KARI announced that it will operate a special open program at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province, for two days on May 24 and 25.

The Naro Space Center serves as the core hub for the development and launch of Korea’s indigenous launch vehicle, the Nuri rocket. During this event, participants will have the chance to tour the Nuri rocket launch pad and view the Nuri rocket QM (Qualification Model) housed in the storage building.

KARI expects that through this program, the public will be able to experience the actual space launch site firsthand and gain a vivid understanding of the scale and function of launch vehicle development and operational facilities.

The special open program will accommodate a total of 1,500 participants. Registration can be made through an online advance reservation system starting at 10 a.m. on May 15. Details on the schedule and application process are available on the official website and social media channels of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

Lee Sang-cheol, President of KARI, stated, “The Naro Space Center is a symbolic space where the challenges and achievements of Korea’s space development have been accumulated. We hope this will be an opportunity for the public to witness the Nuri rocket development site firsthand and experience the present and future of Korea’s aerospace technology.”
