Samsung Electronics Becomes First Korean Company to Sign EU Smart Appliance Energy Code of Conduct
Laying the Foundation for Expanded Energy Cooperation in Europe
Strengthening Leadership in High-Efficiency AI Appliances
On May 14, Samsung Electronics announced that it had become the first Korean company to sign the European Union (EU) Smart Appliance Energy Code of Conduct (CoC).
The EU CoC is a voluntary agreement program led by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) under the European Commission. It encourages home appliance manufacturers to develop and expand the distribution of highly energy-efficient smart appliances.

Through this signing, Samsung Electronics has established a foundation for expanding energy cooperation with power companies across Europe. The EU encourages power companies to collaborate on energy-saving initiatives with appliance manufacturers that have signed the EU CoC.
Samsung Electronics has formed partnerships with major European energy companies, including British Gas in the UK and Coolblue in the Netherlands, to offer customers benefits such as reduced electricity bills. The company plans to further expand energy collaborations in the future.
In addition, Samsung Electronics' all-in-one washer-dryers, washing machines, and dishwashers meet the EU CoC standards and have been registered as "Energy Smart Appliances (ESA)" in the EU Energy Label Registration System (EPREL). Samsung Electronics also plans to expand its lineup of EPREL-registered "Energy Smart Appliances" to include EHS heat pumps and air conditioners.
Samsung Electronics is strengthening its competitiveness in artificial intelligence (AI) appliances by introducing a variety of highly energy-efficient models to the European market. Last month, it launched the "Bespoke AI Dishwasher," which can further reduce energy consumption by up to 20% compared to the highest A grade in European energy efficiency. In June, the company will release the "Bespoke AI Washer," which can reduce energy consumption by up to 65% compared to the highest A grade in European energy efficiency.
These products feature a "custom reservation" function and provide information such as cycle time and energy usage in graphical form after the completion of a cycle, helping users systematically manage energy consumption. Additionally, when users activate the "AI Saving Mode," energy usage can be reduced by up to 15% for refrigerators, up to 70% for washing machines, and up to 30% for air conditioners.
