"The Importance of Steadfast County Administration"
O Tae-wan, Governor of Uiryeong County, Gyeongnam, called for unwavering county administration and the uninterrupted advancement of key public affairs at the final extended executive meeting of the 8th elected term, held in the county government’s main conference room.
During the meeting held on May 11, major issues were reviewed, including the expansion of the On-Site Public Service Team, disaster preparedness for the summer season, improvement projects for living conditions in vulnerable areas, and a survey on groups at risk of solitary death.

Governor O stated, "Just because it is an election period does not mean that county affairs and public work should be neglected," and urged, "During the remaining period, please do your utmost to ensure the stable and continuous operation of county administration, centered around the deputy governor, with no gaps." He also expressed his gratitude to the residents and public officials while reflecting on the 8th elected term.
He said, "It has been a great honor and happiness to share the joys and sorrows of life with the residents during the 8th elected term," adding, "Thanks to the dedication and efforts of the more than 600 public officials, Uiryeong County has been able to take another step forward. I am deeply grateful to the residents who have trusted and supported the county administration. Both encouragement and criticism have served as driving forces for Uiryeong's development."
He went on to say, "The future of Uiryeong is clearly hope and confidence," and added, "Even some pessimistic views stem from the residents' high expectations and strong will to achieve, which I believe will become the driving force for Uiryeong’s development."
Governor O described the 8th elected term as a time of ‘joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness.’ He explained, "'Joy' was the sense of fulfillment felt while creating change together with residents, and 'anger' was the time spent reflecting with residents on local issues and public concerns."
He continued, "'Sorrow' was the moments when we remembered the painful history of the area and the sufferings of our neighbors together, and 'happiness' was the time spent creating small changes and smiles in the daily lives of residents." During the meeting, a video looking back on the four years of the 8th elected term, themed 'joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness,' was also shown.
Governor O mentioned that the "Three Self Principles"—pride, dignity, and confidence—which he emphasized upon taking office, were words directed to both residents and public officials as well as a personal commitment. "The residents of Uiryeong gave me pride, Uiryeong itself was dignity that must be preserved, and confidence was the belief that we could move toward a brighter future for Uiryeong," he said.
