Jinju City Accelerates Nurturing Future Talents Through Global Experiences and Career Support
Expanding Global Experiences, Career Exploration, and Educational Support
Building a Foundation for Youth Growth
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that it is focusing on nurturing future talents by implementing a variety of scholarship programs and educational welfare policies to support the dreams and growth of its youth.
The city is expanding youth-oriented policies, including scholarship programs funded by the Future Generation Happiness Fund, overseas cultural exploration, career exploration programs, educational expense support, and the establishment of a youth welfare safety net.
First, overseas experiential programs to enhance global competency are being actively promoted. The new initiative for this year, the 'Special Talent Youth Overseas Exchange Scholarship,' selects youth with exceptional talents in fields such as culture, arts, and sports, and provides partial financial support for their overseas exchange activities.

This year, 52 scholarship students will participate in a 10-day trip to the United Kingdom and France from July 21.
An overseas English camp operated by the Jinju Future Talent Learning Support Center is also being held. Targeting upper elementary and middle school students in the region, this summer, 27 students will participate in 17 days of English classes and cultural experiences in Canada.
Alongside this, the 'Youth Global Historical and Cultural Exploration' for middle school students will take place this August, with a trip to Xi'an, China, to experience history and culture firsthand.
Efforts are also underway to expand opportunities for youth career exploration. The university exploration program for middle school students will take place over two days and one night starting from the 15th, including visits to Seoul National University and Yonsei University, as well as tours of the National Museum of Korea and Seodaemun Prison History Hall.
The 'Dream Tree Camp' for elementary students offers various programs such as career planning, aptitude tests, coding and robotics experiences, and sports activities. Additionally, the 'Future Talent Development Camp' for middle and high school students is designed to support academic advancement and career planning.
The city is also continuing efforts to reduce the burden of educational expenses and enhance the competitiveness of public education. This year, through the educational expense assistance project, 137 kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the region will receive support. The city is also promoting initiatives such as high school free education subsidies, educational support for children from low-income families, and support for university student loan interest payments.
The operation of youth centers to promote healthy leisure and self-development among youth is also being expanded. At the centers, club activities, cultural experiences, and sports programs are offered year-round, and after-school academies provide both care and academic support.

The Youth Counseling and Welfare Center offers counseling, psychological support, and emergency rescue services, and customized support programs are being implemented for out-of-school youth and youth safety networks.
In particular, the 'Youth Recovery Support Facility,' which was selected as a project by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, provides counseling, housing, academic, and independent living support to help juveniles who have received court dispositions reintegrate into society.
