The "AID Specialized College Support Project" is a program designed to enable enrolled students, local residents, and workers to learn and utilize artificial intelligence (AI), with specialized colleges as the focal point. The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea are overseeing the project, which is being implemented for the first time this year.

The joint project group will receive a total project budget of 2 billion won over two years, including 1 billion won this year.

The three colleges plan to expand advanced educational infrastructure such as AI laboratories and smart classrooms, and to operate customized curricula that combine major fields of study with AI technology. They will also establish an environment where students and faculty can utilize generative AI, further strengthening both major-related competencies and administrative capabilities. In addition, they will offer basic courses for local residents and job-related training programs for workers.

The project group aims to serve as a hub for lifelong and vocational education encompassing students, local residents, and workers, while also supporting the digital transformation of the regional industry.

Kim Taesang, President of Gyeongnam Information College, emphasized, "By joining forces, local specialized colleges will nurture professional technical talent to lead the AI era and create an AI·DX innovation hub that grows together with the local community."
