Essential Home Appliances to Ease Household Chores
Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. has launched a marketing campaign targeting newlyweds during the peak wedding season, focusing on what is often called the "Three Aunt Home Appliances." The company sees a growing demand for household appliances that reduce housework, driven by an increase in dual-income households and a rebound in the number of marriages.
According to recent national statistics, the number of marriages in January this year reached 22,640, up 12.4% from the same period last year. This trend is attributed to the resumption of weddings postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the so-called "Echo Boom Generation"—those born in the 1990s—entering the prime age for marriage.
In line with these consumer trends, Gwangju Shinsegae is running various promotions at its main building's 8th-floor home appliance store, focusing on popular products among newlyweds such as robot vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, and dryers.

Equipped with a LiDAR sensor, it can detect and avoid small obstacles the size of a credit card. This feature helps reduce the hassle of clearing the floor before cleaning, capturing the attention of newlywed households.
In particular, the "DJI ROMO P" model features a transparent case design, allowing users to decorate the interior—a trend known as "Roku" (customizing robot vacuum cleaners)—which is gaining popularity among younger consumers. Gwangju Shinsegae is offering this model at a discounted price until the 31st.
Dishwasher demand also remains steady. Cuckoo's interior dishwashers can be installed on top of a sink without any additional construction. The model features an electrolytic sterilization system, which not only sanitizes dishes but also keeps the internal piping hygienic.
In the dryer market, competition is intensifying around large capacities and hygiene features. LG Electronics' "Tromm Objet Collection Dryer" stands out with its 25kg capacity and steam sterilization function, targeting households looking to clean bedding and baby clothes.
Samsung Electronics is focusing on its "Bespoke AI Combo" model, which combines washing and drying in a single machine. Its integrated design, 69-minute quick cycle, and automatic door opening function are drawing interest from newlyweds for their space efficiency.
