On May 11, KOMCA President Lee Siha announced that the association had redesigned its entire operational framework to strengthen transparency in accordance with its designation as a quasi-governmental organization in 2025 and to respond to the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
The core of this reorganization is the transition from a headquarters chief system, which had been maintained for 12 years, to a division chief system. KOMCA has separated its command structure into the Secretariat, led by Secretary General Baek Seungyeol, and the Administration Department, headed by Administrative Director Lee Sangjin.
The newly established organization, 'Future Labs,' will serve as a control tower to address changes in the copyright environment, such as the introduction of AI-based music royalty collection models. A new secretary position has also been created to enhance the function of prior review for major projects.
KOMCA has consolidated distribution personnel, previously dispersed across departments, into a dedicated Distribution Team. The customer service windows have been merged into the CS Support Team. Legal functions have been separated into a Legal Affairs Team and a Legal Support Team.
KOMCA has also established a new HR Team. For the first time since its founding, the association will conduct job training for team leaders and above in collaboration with an external educational institution, Gainzi Campus. The training will focus on organizational culture and leadership and is scheduled to begin on May 19.
