The event was attended by over 1,000 people, including Lee Suo, head of the sponsorship committee, and co-executive election committee chairs Choi Haebeom and Choi Byeongheon, demonstrating strong support.
Yoon Han-hong, a member of the National Assembly representing Masanhoewon-gu in Changwon, attended the ceremony and delivered congratulatory remarks. Lawmakers Yoon Young-seok and Choi Hyung-du also sent congratulatory messages to celebrate the opening.
In addition, a wide range of political and economic figures attended to offer their congratulations and wish success in the June 3 local elections, including Choi Chungkyung, Chair of the Gyeongnam Social Integration Committee, Cha Kyunga, spouse of former Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu, and Kim Dongsu, President of the National Christian Association.
Notably, Kim Young-gon, former Assistant Vice Minister at the Ministry of Education and a fellow candidate for Gyeongnam Superintendent from the conservative and centrist camps, also attended, receiving a warm round of applause from supporters.
Amid an audience of supporters, education professionals, and local residents, Kwon Sungi expressed his determination to run and outlined his educational vision.
Kwon stated, "Ahead of my candidacy, I visited Deokcheon Seowon in Sancheong, Chungnyeolsa Shrine in Tongyeong, and the Tomb of King Suro in Gimhae. This was an important process for planning a new future based on lessons from history," adding, "I decided to run to enhance Gyeongnam education's future competitiveness."

He also remarked, "Although Gyeongnam has the largest population among non-metropolitan regions, it is a regrettable reality that our academic performance ranks among the lowest nationwide. I will embark on a journey to revive Gyeongnam's academic standing."
He further emphasized his strong commitment to transforming Gyeongnam into an "education hub" that attracts students from across the country by offering excellent educational environments and innovative programs, not merely by curbing population outflow.
Supporters in attendance expressed their hopes, saying, "We hope you will become a new beacon for Gyeongnam education through well-crafted policies that reflect the voices of those on the educational frontlines."
Kwon Sungi's campaign office stressed, "It is Kwon's sincere pledge to make Gyeongnam a place people come for education, not a place they leave because of it. This opening ceremony marks the starting point of a new chapter in Gyeongnam's educational history."
