Glassdome, KGM, and LG Electronics Launch 'Catena-X' Carbon Data Exchange
First Case of Global Standard Data Integration Between Asian Automakers and Parts Suppliers
On May 8, Glassdome, a company specializing in carbon data management, announced that it has launched a pilot project for exchanging product carbon footprint (PCF) data through Catena-X, Europe's largest automotive supply chain data consortium, in collaboration with KG Mobility (KGM) and LG Electronics VS Business Division.
This project serves as a pilot-based validation case to respond to global carbon regulations and automakers' requests for data submission, and is expected to be a turning point for the Korean manufacturing industry to fully enter the global carbon data standardization system.
Catena-X is the world's first open collaborative data ecosystem specialized in the global automotive industry. This project connects the entire supply chain process for the cluster part installed in the KGM Musso (Q270), linking LG Chem (raw materials), Shinsung Materials Industry and Shinsung Autotech (processing), LG Electronics VS Business Division (auto parts), and KGM (finished vehicles).
Glassdome will collect actual measured data across the supply chain, as well as calculate and validate PCF. In particular, based on its partnership with Cofinity-X, the official operator of Catena-X, the company has built a system in which each participant can individually access and connect their data through a dedicated connector (EDC), and plans to verify the stability of data exchange using Cofinity-X's sandbox (virtual test environment).
