'TIME US Nasdaq Bond Hybrid Active' ETF Outperforms Nasdaq in Year-to-Date Returns
Up 6.49 Percentage Points Over the Nasdaq 100
Timefolio Asset Management announced on May 8 that the "TIME US Nasdaq 100 Bond Hybrid 50 Active" ETF, which invests simultaneously in the Nasdaq and bonds, has surpassed a cumulative return of 19% compared to the beginning of the year.
According to the Korea Exchange, the TIME US Nasdaq 100 Bond Hybrid 50 Active ETF rose 19.75% from the start of the year through May 7. This outperforms the 13.26% increase in the Nasdaq 100 Index over the same period.
This ETF is an actively managed bond hybrid ETF that combines global leading tech stocks with domestic short-term bonds, and is 100% eligible for investment in retirement pension DC·IRP and individual pension accounts. The bond segment focuses on domestic short-term bonds to ensure stability, while the equity segment actively invests in US technology stocks to pursue excess returns.
The key driver of performance lies in the equity segment. Rather than investing mechanically across all US growth stocks, Timefolio Asset Management explained that it selectively included core technology stocks that benefit from expanded AI infrastructure investment and strong corporate earnings momentum. Recently, the US stock market has seen a resurgence in tech stocks, driven by increased AI investments and expectations of improved earnings among major tech companies. In April, the Nasdaq surged significantly, reflecting a rapid recovery in investor sentiment towards growth stocks.
Within the Nasdaq 100, the ETF focused on high-momentum growth stocks related to AI, semiconductors, software, and data infrastructure, such as SanDisk, Bloom Energy, Intel, and Lumentum, which contributed to the strong performance. At the same time, about half of the portfolio is composed primarily of domestic short-term bonds to reduce volatility, aiming to provide both stability and growth potential for pension investors.

A representative from Timefolio Asset Management stated, "The TIME US Nasdaq 100 Bond Hybrid 50 Active ETF is not simply a defensive product investing half in the Nasdaq 100 Index, but rather a product that secures a stable structure suitable for pension accounts through domestic short-term bonds, while actively reflecting Timefolio's management capabilities in the equity segment." The representative added, "This year's results demonstrate that, even in bond hybrid ETFs, how quickly and selectively you identify and adjust allocations to stocks in the AI and global technology stock rally can make a significant difference in performance."
