HYBE Establishes ABD, a Label Specializing in Girl Groups
New Girl Group Set to Debut in the Second Half of This Year
On May 8, HYBE announced that it has established a new label, "ABD," specializing in the production of girl groups.
The name ABD is an acronym for the brand slogan "A Bold Dream." The label aims to pursue a creative direction that imagines "D instead of C after A and B," emphasizing a flexible and lively mindset. Its goal is to expand the K-pop field by seeking the pure joy of music and deeply understanding both fans and artists.
The Chief Executive Officer is Ms. Noh Ji-won, who previously served as Head of Artist Planning at Pledis Entertainment. Ms. Noh has built up label management experience at Pledis and More Vision, and is expected to lead the label's overall operations to ensure steady growth.
ABD was created as part of HYBE's "multi-label" strategy, which fosters expertise and autonomy among its labels. HYBE has built a system in which each label operates independently, thereby securing competitiveness in the global music market. ABD also plans to introduce differentiated intellectual property (IP) based on teams and creators specialized in girl group production.
ABD will debut its first new girl group in the second half of this year. Han Sung-soo, Master Professional (MP) who produced SEVENTEEN, IZ*ONE, and TWS, will oversee the overall production, directing music, concept, and performance.
