Namyangju City will host the "University-specific Entrance Examination Briefing Sessions" four times in total at the Jeong Yak-yong Library this June and July.
The sessions are designed to help students proactively respond to the changing university admissions system by providing practical admissions information for the 2027 academic year, with admissions officers from 15 major universities in the Seoul metropolitan area and key regional hubs participating directly.
The following 15 universities will participate in the sessions: Gachon University, Sungshin Women's University, Myongji University, Shinhan University, Soongsil University, Sejong University, Kangwon National University, Kwangwoon University, Sahmyook University, Kyonggi University, Seoul Women's University, Duksung Women's University, Sangmyung University, Dongguk University WISE Campus, and Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
Each session will last for one hour, during which the university admissions officers will explain the application process, evaluation criteria, and unique features of their respective institutions, followed by a Q&A session.
Applications for participation are divided into June and July sessions. Applications for the June sessions will be accepted from May 12 to June 1, and for the July sessions from June 12 to July 5. Those wishing to participate must sign up as members on the city’s Talent Development Support Center website before applying. Participation is free of charge, and applicants may register for multiple universities.
The city expects that these briefing sessions will enable students and parents to understand the latest admissions trends, compare the characteristics of each university's admissions process, and develop effective application strategies. Based on this, the city plans to support students in enhancing their understanding of admissions and in formulating systematic academic and career plans.

The "2026 Urban Humanities Special Lecture," designed to quench citizens' intellectual thirst, is also attracting attention. This special lecture will be held on June 13 at the Byeolbit Library, with Professor Seongho Yoo of the Department of Forensic Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine as the guest lecturer.
The lecture will provide an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of death through various forensic cases and to revisit the value of life and the preciousness of existence.
Professor Seongho Yoo is a leading forensic scientist in Korea, having worked in the field for 27 years and conducted more than 3,000 autopsies. He has actively communicated with the public by appearing on programs such as "Unanswered Questions" and "Naked World History."
In this lecture, he plans to share messages about human dignity and the direction of life, drawing on his experiences of uncovering the truth in the face of death. Applications for the lecture will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from 2 p.m. on May 8 via Namyangju City’s lifelong learning portal, "Dasan Seodang."
A Namyangju City official stated, "We hope this special lecture will provide an opportunity for deep reflection on life and death," adding, "We will continue to expand lifelong learning opportunities for citizens through a variety of humanities programs."

Heartwarming stories have also emerged from the field of education. On May 6, the Gwangneung Middle School Student Council invited 11 senior volunteers who assist with school safety and meal services to a "Filial Piety Event."
Eleven participants in the senior employment program, affiliated with the Namyangju City Senior Welfare Center, attended the event. These senior volunteers have contributed to student safety by guiding traffic and supporting school meal services, helping ensure a safe commute and smooth school life for students.
The students expressed their gratitude by presenting handwritten letters and carnations, while the school reciprocated by serving noodles and wishing the seniors good health.
Min Yeonsik, Principal of Gwangneung Middle School, said, "It was a meaningful opportunity for students to learn the values of consideration and respect firsthand," adding, "We will continue to expand character education in collaboration with the local community."
Lee Sungkyu, Director of the Namyangju City Senior Welfare Center, stated, "I deeply appreciate the students and staff of Gwangneung Middle School for remembering the seniors' hard work and expressing their warm feelings. We will do our best to create a work environment where seniors can continue to participate actively."
