Members of the Korean University Students Progressive Union (Daijin-yeon) were apprehended by police while attempting to enter the U.S. Embassy in Korea.
The Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced on May 7 that it had arrested eight Daijin-yeon members in the act on charges of violating the Assembly and Demonstration Act.

View original imageAccording to police, at around 12:00 p.m. that day, these individuals held an unreported rally on the sidewalk in front of the main gate of the U.S. Embassy in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and attempted to enter the embassy.
At the time, Daijin-yeon was reportedly holding a rally to condemn statements made by U.S. Forces Korea Commander Xavier Brunson regarding wartime operational control.
