[Click e-Stock] "Inometree Anticipates Recovery in ESS Inspection Demand... Expands Business to Semiconductors and Glass Substrates"
Independent research firm GL Research analyzed on May 7 that Inometree is raising expectations for a performance rebound, driven by expanded investment in energy storage systems (ESS). The company explained that growth momentum is being strengthened as the recovery of its existing secondary battery inspection equipment business is progressing simultaneously with its expansion into new fields such as semiconductors and glass substrates.
Park Changyoon, a researcher at GL Research, stated, "We are seeing a recovery in inspection equipment orders following the resumption of ESS investments, and Inometree is also accelerating its entry into new inspection domains such as semiconductors and glass substrates," adding, "The likelihood of a turnaround in business performance is increasing."
Inometree is a specialized provider of X-ray-based non-destructive inspection equipment. Its main business focuses on solutions that inspect internal defects in secondary batteries for electric vehicles and ESS batteries. Leveraging X-ray and CT technologies, the company inspects electrode alignment, internal foreign substances, and microcracks. In addition, by applying its proprietary AI and machine learning-based inspection software, Inometree has secured technological competitiveness that enables real-time processing of large-volume images.
In particular, recently, global battery manufacturers are shifting their investment focus from electric vehicles (EVs) to ESS production lines, which is expected to drive increased demand for inspection. As demand for electrode/gap inspection and foreign substance inspection rises rapidly, Inometree has established references with global customers, including the three major domestic battery companies. Furthermore, as the company can accommodate various battery types—including prismatic, cylindrical, and pouch cells—it is expected to benefit from the expansion of new production lines.
The company is also strengthening its capabilities to respond to next-generation batteries. Inometree is expanding the supply of customized inspection solutions for LFP batteries, 46mm batteries, and all-solid-state batteries.
Based on its battery inspection technology, Inometree is also pursuing expansion into new business areas. The company is broadening its portfolio to include semiconductor package inspection, glass substrate inspection, mobile device inspection, and defense-related inspection. Inometree is developing inspection solutions to verify the internal bonding status of semiconductor packages such as HBM and FBGA and is also working on equipment to detect TGV microcracks and copper plating defects in the glass substrate sector.
Glass substrates are considered an essential field for X-ray-based precision inspection, as micrometer-level defects directly affect semiconductor performance. Inometree has already built collaborative experience with major domestic and international companies related to glass substrates, making it highly likely to benefit as the market expands in the future.
