The opening ceremony was attended by Yang Hyangja, People Power Party's candidate for Gyeonggi Governor, former National Assembly members Won Yoochul and Song Younggeun, Lee Woo-hyun and Lee Dongseop—both former National Assembly members who are serving as joint election committee chairs for Lee Sang-il's campaign—Jeong Chanmin, former mayor of Yongin and honorary election committee chair, and many other current and former party leaders as well as city and provincial council candidates, demonstrating a strong sense of unity. Supportive citizens packed the election office, praising Lee's achievements during the 8th popularly elected term over the past four years, and vowed to unite their efforts to help elect the first-ever re-elected mayor in Yongin's history.
In his address, Lee stated, "For the past four years, I have worked tirelessly as a representative for improving the quality of life for Yongin citizens and for the city's leap forward," and emphasized, "I have relied solely on the strength of Yongin's citizens, not on power, and have not contacted the central party at all, instead immersing myself with the citizens to achieve victory."
He went on to say, "Yongin citizens have several unmet needs, and the first is that they have never seen a re-elected mayor. I will become Yongin's first re-elected mayor and lead Yongin to become the top city in Korea and a global hub for semiconductors."

He added, "The second unmet need in Yongin is balanced regional development; some areas have advanced further, while others have lagged behind. Since Cheoin-gu, which accounts for 79% of Yongin's land, is projected to see its population approach 500,000, I will not relax my efforts to ensure balanced development throughout my term."
In particular, Lee mentioned the ongoing large-scale semiconductor investments and expressed his determination to confront political attacks head-on.
He stated, "Yongin has become a city of 'Cheonjogaebyeok' because Samsung Electronics is investing 360 trillion won in the advanced system semiconductor national industrial complex in Idong and Namsa-eup, and 20 trillion won in the Giheung Future Research Complex, while SK hynix is investing 600 trillion won in the Wonsam-myeon Yongin Semiconductor Cluster. Altogether, investments exceeding 1,000 trillion won are underway, making Yongin a major city. Yet, the political circles are currently shaking the well-progressing semiconductor cluster in Yongin."
He further emphasized, "For Yongin to have the necessary road and rail networks, proper parks, and a strong fiscal base supported by increased tax revenue, the semiconductor cluster must be properly established. Together with citizens, I will absolutely protect Yongin's semiconductor cluster."
He also questioned, "The other candidate has no connection to today's Yongin semiconductor industry, so can someone unrelated to it truly lead Yongin's semiconductor sector?" He continued, "Yongin Special City is currently home to 1.1 million residents and will become a metropolitan city of 1.5 million in the future. When choosing the next mayor, I hope citizens will carefully compare the candidates and vote for the one best suited for the role."

During the event, strong declarations of support from citizen representatives followed.
Oh Sujeong, head of the Gorim Citizen Solidarity, said, "It has always been disappointing to see administrative consistency falter whenever the mayor changes. As a mother raising children, I strongly support Lee Sang-il's re-election, believing he will achieve safe and sustainable development."
At the opening ceremony, Oh Sujeong, head of the Gorim Citizen Solidarity and a homemaker, and Park Junhyuk, former president of the Dankook University Student Council and a youth representative, declared their support for Lee Sang-il on behalf of the citizens in attendance.

Oh Sujeong added, "Whenever the mayor changes, the direction of policies in our city changes, and ongoing projects are halted or altered, leading to a lack of administrative consistency. As a mother raising children, I hope for a more stable educational environment, a safer city, and sustainable development in Yongin, and therefore I support candidate Lee Sang-il."
