Ahn Youngcheol Appointed as Chairman of Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority: "Public Policy Expert"
Ahn Youngcheol, a professor at Busan University of Foreign Studies, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on May 6 that Professor Ahn was appointed as the fourth Chairman of the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority. His term is three years, until May 2029.
Born in 1965, the newly appointed Chairman Ahn earned a Ph.D. in Fiscal and Economic Studies from the University of Würzburg in Germany. He is an expert in public policy, having served as an advisor to the National Committee for Balanced Development and as Chairman of the Korea Climate Economy and Society Institute.

The Ministry expects Chairman Ahn, based on his expertise in public policy, to manage the Authority’s organization in a stable manner and to play a significant role in strengthening the safety of ships and maritime traffic.
