KOSPI Surges Past 7,400 During Session... '270,000 Samsung' Achieved (Update)
Rises to 7,417.54... Sets All-Time High
On May 6, the KOSPI began trading by breaking through the 7,000-point mark and continued to surge past 7,400 points during the session. The stock price of market giant Samsung Electronics also surpassed 270,000 won for the first time.
According to the Korea Exchange, as of 12:36 p.m. on this day, the KOSPI had climbed to a new all-time high of 7,417.54. As of 1:10 p.m., it was trading at 7,392.48, up 6.57% from the previous session.

View original imageForeign investors led the KOSPI rally by purchasing shares worth 1.9021 trillion won. Individual investors and institutional investors recorded net sales of 830.6 billion won and 738 billion won, respectively.
The stock price of Samsung Electronics soared to as high as 270,000 won at one point. It is currently trading at 267,500 won, a 15.05% increase from the previous session. The stock price of SK hynix also reached 1.62 million won during the session, achieving the so-called '1.6 million Hynix' milestone.
Among other top market capitalization stocks, SK Square (up 9.08%), LG Energy Solution (up 2.54%), and Hyundai Motor (up 1.86%) are showing upward trends. On the other hand, Doosan Enerbility (down 0.47%), Hanwha Aerospace (down 1.98%), Samsung Biologics (down 0.34%), and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (down 4.71%) are declining.
In contrast to the sharply rising KOSPI, the KOSDAQ is trading at 1,202.04, down 0.96% from the previous session, remaining in weak territory.

The performance of top market capitalization stocks on the KOSDAQ was also mixed. Ecopro BM (up 2.09%), Ecopro (up 0.83%), Rainbow Robotics (up 3.65%), and HLB (up 1.31%) rose, while Alteogen (down 2.41%), Samchundang Pharm (down 2.32%), LIG Nex1 (down 4.06%), Kolon TissueGene (down 2.86%), ABL Bio (down 3.70%), and LIG ChemBio (down 2.04%) fell.
