"Stations for Sale"... Busan Transportation Corporation Opens Bidding for Paid Station Name Notation on Metro Lines
86 Stations on Lines 1 to 4
Including Yeonsan, Deokcheon, and Suyeong Stations
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) will begin accepting bids for paid station name notation rights at 86 stations on Busan Metro Lines 1 to 4, starting from May 11, 2026.
The station name notation system allows public institutions or corporate names to be added to existing metro station names. Organizations that meet certain requirements are eligible to participate in the paid bidding process.
Station name notation is applied to a total of six types of media: pole signs, entrance and exit canopies, platform station name boards, in-station route maps, in-train route maps, and in-train announcements. Currently, hospitals, companies, and public facilities are participating at 19 stations, including Seomyeon Station, and they are achieving stable promotional effects through year-round exposure.
The corporation explained that, in particular, since Seomyeon Station, a key commercial hub in Busan, was first awarded last year, there has been a steady stream of related inquiries.
Among the stations available for this round of bidding, Yeonsan Station, Deokcheon Station, and Suyeong Station are transfer stations where two lines intersect. These stations are expected to deliver significant advertising impact due to their high foot traffic and numerous advertising media. In addition, Centum City Station and Jeonpo Station, which are home to various attractions such as popup stores and photo zones, are drawing attention as they have a high proportion of tourists and young users.
Eligible participants include public institutions, public facilities, schools, medical institutions, department stores, other multi-use facilities, and small and medium-sized enterprises located within a 1 km radius of the relevant station. Successful bidders will be granted the right to use the station name notation for two years and six months starting in July 2026, and may extend the contract for an additional three years once without a new bidding process.
Organizations wishing to participate in the bidding must submit a bid application form and pay the bid deposit to the Passenger Business Division on the 5th floor of the Busan Transportation Corporation headquarters by 3:00 p.m. on May 15, 2026.

Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "The station name notation system of Busan Metro, which is used by about 900,000 people daily, is an advertising medium that offers significant promotional value. The greater the number of passengers and the higher the recognition of the station, the greater the advertising effect, so we look forward to the interest and participation of many organizations."
