The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has taken action to ensure the safety of nearby Korean vessels in connection with the fire on an HMM-operated ship anchored in the Strait of Hormuz, instructing them to move to safer waters.
Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jongwoo convened an emergency response meeting at around 10 PM on May 4, immediately after the incident occurred, and instructed officials to "do everything possible to ensure the safety of our crew members and vessels, and to move nearby Korean ships to safer waters." On the morning of May 5 at 9 AM, Minister Hwang also held another situation review meeting to check on the latest developments.
