NIRS Commissions First Phase of Integrated Project Worth 164.2 Billion Won... Briefing Session for Interested Companies
Integrated Information Resources Project Worth 241.7 Billion Won Launched This Year
Briefing Session to Be Held on the 12th at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute
The National Information Resources Service (NIRS) under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on May 5 that it will carry out the 'Pan-Government Integrated Information Resources Project' worth approximately 241.7 billion won this year.
This integrated project involves the NIRS making bulk purchases of information resources—including servers, information processing devices, and networks—for government use, which are then consolidated on a cloud-based platform.
The project, which has been implemented annually since 2009, aims to resolve the issue of redundant investments resulting from separate purchases by each ministry and to strengthen the shared use of information resources.
The first phase of this integrated project, which is being commissioned this time, is valued at 164.2 billion won. It will provide a total of 1,702 units of information resources (comprising 706 units of hardware and 996 units of software) required for 158 work areas across 41 agencies, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Fair Trade Commission.
This year's integrated project actively reflects the AI Government Infrastructure Governance and Innovation direction set by the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee. New investments in the Daejeon headquarters, which is scheduled for decommissioning in 2030 due to building aging, will be minimized.
In addition, the disaster recovery (DR) system will be strengthened to ensure uninterrupted administrative services even in various disaster situations. The existing disaster recovery system, which is based on servers and storage for services closely related to the public—such as postal information, passport information, and patent work—will be reinforced.
Furthermore, the introduction of additional equipment for secondary backup storage at backup centers will be expanded, thereby enhancing the safety of data preservation.
