Community Platform Company GGWP Raises $15 Million in Series A Funding
Series A Investment Led by Smilegate Investment and Korea Investment Partners
Strategic Investors Include Samsung Ventures and SK Telecom Ventures
GGWP, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered community platform company for gaming and online enterprises, announced that it has completed a Series A round of funding led by Smilegate Investment, Korea Investment Partners, and Headline Asia, raising 15 million dollars (KRW 22.32 billion).
GGWP is a community co-pilot (management) company that enables global brands to protect, understand, and grow their online communities. The company provides solutions to global game publishers across various platforms, including PC, console, and mobile, with major partners being large game companies headquartered in Asia. Based on its partnership with the global game engine platform Unity, GGWP also offers in-client game moderation solutions.
Previously, major Asian gaming and technology companies such as Samsung Ventures, SK Telecom Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, and Bandai Namco Entertainment participated as strategic investors (SI) in GGWP. This recent investment is also known to have been made based on their continued trust.
George Ng, CEO and Chief Technology Officer of GGWP, stated, "Korea is a market with a long history in esports and large-scale online games. The quality of in-game communities affects not only the user experience and retention rate, but also the long-term competitiveness of the game. As such, leading Korean publishers already consider user protection to be a core pillar of live service management."
He added, "Korea is home to live service publishers with some of the strictest standards in the world, and we have focused on building a platform that meets those standards. We are committed to meeting the high expectations of the Korean market."
The GGWP platform is equipped with an AI-based moderation system that supports more than 20 languages, including Korean. Last year, GGWP entered the Japanese market, launching full-scale efforts to address user harassment and automate community operations using AI and specialized personnel.
The funds raised in this round will be used to strengthen GGWP’s presence in the Korean market, develop moderation tools tailored for live operations and brand safety, and establish policy models adapted to the characteristics of each regional market. Additionally, the company is upgrading its enterprise-level infrastructure—spanning compliance, stability, and analytics capabilities—to support global-scale publishers.
Han Mijin, team leader at Korea Investment Partners, said, "As the live service ecosystem expands globally, the health of online communities has become a core infrastructure that directly impacts user retention, monetization, and brand trust, rather than just serving as a supplementary function. GGWP is building a platform optimized for these needs, and we look forward to expanding throughout Korea and the Asia-Pacific region together."
