Laying the Groundwork for a Climb to the Mid-Table
On April 29, Yongin Special Self-Governing City’s professional football club Yongin FC announced that four of its players, including Kim Minwoo, were selected for the K League 2 Round 9 Best Eleven.
Demonstrating balanced play in both offense and defense, Yongin FC was also named the Best Team for K League 2 Round 9.
Kim Minwoo, who scored one goal and provided two assists in the match against Gimhae FC on April 26, anchored the midfield and delivered an outstanding performance, earning him the Round 9 MVP title.
Striker Seok Hyunjun, who scored multiple goals, center-back Kwak Yunho, and goalkeeper Hwang Seongmin were also selected for the Round 9 Best Eleven.
Yongin FC achieved a historic first victory since joining K League 2, defeating Gimhae FC 4-1 in their eighth match.
Founded in January this year, Yongin FC has prepared for K League 2 with the support of 1.1 million Yongin citizens, recruiting General Manager Kim Jinhyung, Head Coach Choi Yoonkyum, and Technical Director Lee Donggook, among others.
Reflecting citizens’ high expectations, the home opener against Cheonan City FC in Round 1 drew an audience of 10,521.
Yongin FC will aim for a second consecutive league win in the upcoming match against Seongnam FC on May 3. The team plans to use a victory over Seongnam FC as a springboard to move up to the league’s mid-table.
A Yongin City official stated, “It is highly meaningful that Yongin FC secured its historic first victory with the support of Yongin citizens,” adding, “As Yongin FC’s journey has just begun, we will continue to cheer for and support the team so that it can achieve its second and third wins and climb into the mid-table.”
