Gwangju Urban Corporation will open its swimming pools and ice rink to children for one day on Children's Day. The initiative aims to return public sports facilities to the children of the local community.
According to Gwangju Urban Corporation on April 29, three facilities—the swimming pool at Gwangju Pyeongdong Sports Center, the swimming pool at Gwangju Mudeung Gymnasium, and the indoor ice rink at Yeomju Sports Complex—will be open free of charge on May 5, in celebration of the 104th Children's Day. This offer is available to children and their accompanying guardians.
Dedicated Lanes for Children... Three Sessions at Swimming Pools
The swimming pools at Gwangju Pyeongdong Sports Center and Gwangju Mudeung Gymnasium will operate in three sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., exclusively for children aged 6 to 12 and their guardians.
For safety, Gwangju Mudeung Gymnasium will provide one pool for toddlers and one dedicated lane for children, while Gwangju Pyeongdong Sports Center will set up two dedicated lanes for children. Life jackets are mandatory to prevent water-related accidents, and the number of users per session is limited to 30.
Details such as usage times and reservation methods can be found on the Gwangju Urban Corporation website or through telephone inquiries.
Ice Rink Performances and Free Lessons... Admission and Rental Fees Fully Waived
The indoor ice rink at Yeomju Sports Complex will waive both the admission fee and skate rental fee for children under the age of 13. Operating hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m., with one hour for ice resurfacing and a break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
