View original imageOn April 28, the second day of the first phase of high oil price relief payments, it was reported that approximately 1.06 million people had applied.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on April 29, as of midnight the previous day, the number of applicants for the high oil price relief payment stood at 1,068,492. This represents 33.1% of the 3,227,785 people eligible for the first round of payments. A total of 609.4 billion won in relief funds has been distributed to these recipients.
By payment method, 417,705 people chose prepaid cards, 405,715 opted for credit or debit cards, 197,621 selected the local gift certificate in mobile or card form, and 47,451 chose the paper version.
By region, Jeonnam recorded an application rate of 50.9%, surpassing the halfway mark. In contrast, Jeju and Gyeonggi provinces saw rates of 28.5%, while Incheon posted 29.1%, which were relatively low.

The first phase of high oil price relief payments targets vulnerable groups such as recipients of basic livelihood security, the near-poor, and single-parent families. The application period runs until May 8.
