Namhae-gun Places 3rd Overall at Gyeongsangnam-do Disabled Sports Competition, Proving Steady Strength
Maintained Top Rankings for Two Consecutive Years After Last Year’s Second Place
Achieved Five Consecutive Tug-of-War Championships... Overwhelming Performance Through Strategy and Teamwork
The Namhae-gun athletes’ delegation from Gyeongsangnam-do achieved an outstanding result by placing 3rd overall out of 18 cities and counties at the 29th Gyeongsangnam-do Disabled Sports for All Competition, which took place in Haman-gun and Changnyeong-gun from April 23 to April 24, 2026.
This achievement follows last year’s 2nd place finish, marking the second consecutive year that Namhae-gun has remained among the top ranks, further reaffirming the stable competitiveness of Namhae-gun’s disabled sports program.
The event was especially meaningful as it was co-hosted by Haman-gun and Changnyeong-gun—the first time two counties jointly organized the competition—and saw participation from athlete delegations representing every city and county in the province.

Additionally, 7 out of the 16 events held were ‘integration events’ in which both disabled and non-disabled participants competed together, reinforcing the competition’s role as a platform for communication and harmony beyond simple rivalry.
In particular, in the tug-of-war event, Namhae-gun overcame physical disadvantages through superior strategy and teamwork, defeating the Miryang, Goseong, and Changwon teams with a score of 2-0 in each match, thus showcasing overwhelming skill. With this, Namhae-gun achieved the remarkable feat of winning the championship for five consecutive years from 2022 to this year, firmly establishing its reputation as a powerhouse team.
This success is attributed not only to the athletes’ efforts, but also to the dedicated support of coaches and staff, as well as the ongoing encouragement and interest from the local community.
In particular, systematic training conducted at the Toktok Room (table tennis hall) and Cue Zone (billiards hall) within the Namhae-gun Dream Sharing Center led to fruitful results, with the team securing a total of seven medals in table tennis and billiards events.
