Dongwon Fisheries Launches Value-Up Strategy to Address Low PBR, Pursues Corporate Value Reassessment
Dongwon Fisheries is set to launch a full-scale strategy to enhance its corporate value in order to move out of an undervalued phase. Dongwon Fisheries, a company specializing in distant-water fishing and seafood, officially announced its commitment to implementing a value-up initiative aimed at expanding shareholder value through a "Letter to Shareholders" released on the 29th.
The company pointed out that, despite possessing stable performance and tangible assets, the market has not fully reflected these strengths. It diagnosed the current situation as a typical low-PBR (Price-to-Book Ratio) asset stock. The company believes its price-to-book ratio is significantly lower than the industry average and given its asset size.
Dongwon Fisheries has a stable profit structure based on its distant-water fishing business, as well as a diversified business portfolio through domestic and overseas subsidiaries and investment companies. Additionally, it has secured competitive tangible assets such as food processing, cold storage, and logistics infrastructure. However, the company analyzed that these strengths and its growth story have not been effectively communicated to the market.
Accordingly, the company plans to drive up its corporate value not just through a simple increase in share price, but by fundamentally improving its structure. As a first step, Dongwon Fisheries will conduct a company-wide review of asset efficiency, dispose of non-core assets, and strengthen financial soundness.
Furthermore, the company aims to restructure its business around profitability, establishing a virtuous cycle where tangible management outcomes are directly linked to corporate value growth. In addition, Dongwon Fisheries emphasized its intention to improve its undervalued asset stock image by expanding investor communication, transparently conveying the company’s intrinsic value and growth potential to the market.
