He reflected, "I was once again reminded of the importance of democracy through the experience of the December 3 Martial Law," adding, "The prosperity and happiness we enjoy today are great debts we owe to those resting here."
Choi also pledged to work with the Lee Jaemyung administration and Gyeonggi Province governor candidate Choo Mi-ae to establish a democracy and human rights complex near Masuk Moran Park, which will serve as a space for experience, remembrance, and exhibitions.
In addition, Choi, together with National Assemblyman Kim Yongmin, held a meeting with leaders of seven veterans' organizations in the Namyangju area, including the Disabled Veterans Association. At the meeting, the organization leaders requested practical improvements, such as better accessibility to the Memorial Tower and the construction of a new veterans' hall.
Choi responded, "I deeply empathize with the inconvenience experienced by our elderly citizens, and I will increase accessibility and honor by creating a veterans' park that brings together related facilities, including the Memorial Tower, in one place." He also emphasized, "Based on President Lee Jaemyung's philosophy that 'extraordinary sacrifice deserves extraordinary reward,' I will fully exercise the authority of the mayor to ensure that national patriots can feel a sense of pride."
