Refining Goyang’s Eight Key Visions Based on Voices from the Field
Min Kyung-sun, who has been confirmed as the final candidate for mayor of Goyang from the Democratic Party, has officially begun his “steady march for public sentiment” as he heads toward victory in the June 3 local elections. During the primary, Min focused on consolidating support within the party, but immediately after his nomination, he began actively visiting every corner of the community, listening to citizens’ on-site concerns and demonstrating a broad, dynamic approach.

This is seen as a “policy forging” process to improve and supplement his pledges.
Starting last weekend, Min took part in volunteer meal service at Daehwa Senior Welfare Center, attended events such as the Badminton Senior Association, the Hwasamobae Residents’ Sports Festival, and reunions of Ilsan middle and high school alumni associations, engaging directly with citizens. In particular, he made efforts to foster cross-generational communication, including organizing a session to hear transportation policy proposals directly from young party members.
His weekday schedule has become even more packed. On the 27th, he secured an endorsement from the Federation of Korean Trade Unions’ Public Sector Union, reaffirming strong trust from the labor sector. He also met with the president of Korea Aerospace University to discuss a model for university-community collaboration, and attended a commemorative event for the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital labor union, gathering frontline voices on public healthcare services.
Min’s pragmatic approach will be evident again in the following day’s agenda. On the 28th, he plans to discuss measures to revitalize the stagnant local commercial districts in meetings with the Pungdong Shopping District Council and the Federation of Small Businesses. He will also attend the Daycare Association’s Children’s Day event and visit the Architects’ Association, addressing critical livelihood issues such as childcare and urban regeneration. Additionally, by holding discussions with faculty from Joongbu University regarding therapeutic agriculture, he is working to discover new future growth industries for Goyang.
Min Kyung-sun stated, “I have not forgotten that winning the primary reflects citizens’ demands for a major transformation in Goyang,” and added, “I will prioritize the citizens’ difficulties and concerns heard in the field in my policies.” He emphasized, “During the remaining period, I will thoroughly examine every part of Goyang with ‘steady steps’ to prepare as a practical, work-focused mayor who truly changes citizens’ lives.”
