During the meeting, wide-ranging opinions were exchanged on the following topics: the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz; security in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman; regional economic cooperation; and the current status of the ceasefire negotiations being mediated by Pakistan, according to the broadcaster.
Since the onset of the conflict, Iran has blockaded the Strait of Hormuz and has been working with Oman, a coastal neighbor, to devise ways to manage the strait.
Minister Araghchi expressed his appreciation for Oman's responsible approach and cautious stance on the war, noting that Oman has consistently supported a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
He also conveyed Iran's strong commitment to maintaining amicable relations with Oman and other neighboring countries on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, IRIB reported.
However, Minister Araghchi asserted that "the 40 days of war have proven that the presence of U.S. troops in the region leads to instability and division," and urged, "All countries in the region must act responsibly to free themselves from U.S. interference and establish an independent collective security system."
Sultan Haitham expressed condolences for the losses suffered by Iran's top leader Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials during the U.S. and Israeli military attacks.
Sultan Haitham also expressed hope for a swift end to the war and the restoration of regional security, adding that Oman is prepared to provide any necessary support to achieve these goals.
Minister Araghchi has been on a tour of Pakistan, Oman, and Russia since April 24.
When Minister Araghchi arrived in Pakistan, the intermediary, on April 24, there was speculation that a second round of ceasefire negotiations with the United States would be held.
