North Korea and Russia Demonstrate Military Alliance on the First Anniversary of the Kursk Liberation
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of Russia, who visited North Korea to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Kursk Dispatch Memorial, met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, paid tribute to the fallen North Korean soldiers, and reaffirmed the military alliance between the two countries.

View original imageAccording to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in North Korea's Telegram channel and Russia's state-run TASS news agency on April 26, Chairman Volodin met with Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang that day.
At the meeting, Chairman Volodin conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and delivered a congratulatory message on Kim Jong Un’s re-election as Chairman of the State Affairs Commission.
Chairman Volodin, in particular, expressed gratitude for the dispatch of North Korean troops, stating, "North Korean soldiers fought shoulder to shoulder with our troops and liberated Russian territory from Ukrainian Nazis."
He added, "The Russian people will never forget the dedication of North Korean soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of the motherland," emphasizing, "This is the true spirit of comradeship."
Chairman Volodin also assessed that the close bond between Kim Jong Un and President Putin "became a decisive key to building the future in the most difficult times."
Following President Putin’s instructions, Chairman Volodin arrived in North Korea the previous day to attend the inauguration ceremony of the overseas military operation battle honors memorial, marking the first anniversary of the end of the Kursk Liberation Operation.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in North Korea reported that Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov arrived in North Korea that day for a working visit. North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang-chol welcomed Minister Belousov at the airport.
