Premium Experiential Cruises Take Hold... 50,000 Board "Panstar Miracle" in First Year
PanStar Group, a comprehensive shipping and logistics company, is celebrating the first anniversary of the "Panstar Miracleho," the first cruise ferry built in Korea. Over the past year, approximately 50,000 people have boarded the vessel, indicating a shift in demand for cruise travel.
According to PanStar Group on April 24, the Panstar Miracleho has been operating the Busan-Osaka Seto Inland Sea Cruise, Busan One-Night Cruise, and themed cruises for the past year. Around 40,000 people have boarded the Seto Inland Sea cruise, while approximately 10,000 have taken the one-night cruise.
The Miracleho is a 22,000-ton vessel introduced to replace the previous "Panstar Dreamho." PanStar explained that, based on its prior operational experience, it focused on reducing the number of cabins in favor of expanding amenities and improving the onboard environment.
The ship is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, hull safety devices, an air sterilization system, and satellite-based Wi-Fi. A variety of amenities are also available, including balcony cabins, a swimming pool, sauna, lounge, and kids' facilities.
The composition of passengers has also changed. For the Seto Inland Sea cruise, 76% of passengers were under the age of 40, indicating high usage by younger travelers and families. A PanStar official stated, "The proportion of passengers by age group has been relatively balanced."
The pattern of cabin usage has also shifted. Premium cabins, including balcony suites or higher, accounted for over 30%, and when including ocean-view cabins, the figure exceeded 60%. There has also been steady demand for the most luxurious accommodation options.
The proportion of foreign passengers has also increased. Among passengers traveling the Busan-Osaka route, about 30% were foreigners, visiting from more than 60 countries. In addition to Japan, travelers from the United States, Australia, Germany, Canada, Taiwan, France, the United Kingdom, and other countries were included.
Last year, PanStar expanded its offerings by operating cruises departing from Pohang to the western coast of Japan, as well as coastal cruises to Jeju and Yeosu. The company also introduced seasonal programs such as Ocean Club, Summer Cruise, and Christmas Cruise.
