Jangseong-gun has identified key projects to be promoted in conjunction with the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
Earlier this year, Jangseong-gun established the "Jeonnam-Gwangju Integration Response Working Council," composed of seven subcommittees, and held a reporting session to identify tasks in response to the administrative integration. A total of 40 tasks were identified. Subsequently, in March, after focused deliberation through a selection meeting, the county finalized nine core tasks.

The county plans to attract the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and establish a "comprehensive agricultural innovation cluster" by linking the National Subtropical Crop Demonstration Center in Samgye-myeon and the Smart Agriculture Development District.
Jangseong-gun is also working to attract the Army Logistics School and the Information and Communication School to establish "Sangmu Base," the Army's largest military training facility, and a defense education hub. The county expects this to secure growth drivers such as an increase in the resident population.
In the industrial sector, the "Smart Innovation Youth Complex Town Development Project" is drawing attention. To help young people settle in without burden, a youth-specialized housing complex will be created, and a future technology testbed will be established to pilot systems such as unmanned shuttle buses, autonomous taxis, and delivery systems utilizing robots and drones. The project will also feature a "Startup Park" for entrepreneurial challenges and a multi-purpose cultural facility.
In the construction sector, a "tram" will be operated to connect the Advanced District 3 and Jangseong Station, allowing residents to share living spheres with the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City. The "tram" is a streetcar running on rails installed on the road. In addition, the county will accelerate the formation of an integrated living zone by expanding and paving the section of the arterial road from Jangsan-ri in Hwangryong-myeon to Imgok in Gwangju.
In the welfare and health sector, the establishment of an affiliated hospital within the National Cardiovascular Center is a major focus. A research-support affiliated hospital with 500 beds will be opened to facilitate policy research, treatment, and the collection of clinical data. This is also expected to help reduce regional disparities in healthcare services.
Other core tasks include the creation of a Jangseong-Gwangju Medical and Healing Tourism Belt and the establishment of an AI-based agricultural hub centered on the National Subtropical Crop Demonstration Center.
Jangseong-gun compiled these plans into a booklet and recently delivered it to candidates for Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated City Mayor and political parties.
