Naju City in South Jeolla Province is moving forward with securing land for the construction of an artificial sun research facility. The city will hold a briefing session for residents to provide information on the compensation process and seek cooperation for the initial survey, demonstrating its commitment to open communication in administration.
According to Naju City on April 24, a resident briefing session on land compensation for the artificial sun research facility will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 29 at the Mahan Nonghyup Yangsan branch, targeting landowners and local residents.
This briefing session has been arranged in advance of launching the first stage of the project, the "basic survey of land and physical objects."

In particular, the city will request active cooperation from residents for the "basic survey," which will officially begin on April 29, the day of the briefing session.
The basic survey is a procedure that examines not only land but also all objects on the site, including buildings, trees, and graves. This process is important as it will serve as foundational data for future appraisal and compensation calculations.
Naju City is focusing its administrative resources to provide the site to the Ministry of Science and ICT by February 2028. Starting with this briefing session, the city plans to operate a continuous communication channel to protect residents' property rights and promote their interests.
After the briefing session, the city will proceed sequentially with follow-up steps, including on-site surveys, public announcement of the compensation plan, and appraisal.
Kang Sanggu, acting mayor of Naju City, stated, "The artificial sun research facility will be a crucial opportunity for Naju City to emerge as a leading global energy city. We will do our best to reflect residents' opinions during the compensation process and ensure transparency in procedures so that the project can proceed smoothly."
