[June 3 Election] Candidate Kim Daejung Unveils Blueprint for "Student Lifelong Responsible Education"
Four Key Action Plans Announced, Covering Basic Academic Skills to College Admission
Policy Initiatives Draw Attention with Detailed and Concrete Pledges
Kim Daejung, Preliminary Candidate for Superintendent of Education of Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City, has unveiled a blueprint for "Student Lifelong Responsible Education," in which public education takes full responsibility for every stage of a student's growth, and is accelerating his policy initiatives.
According to Kim's campaign on the 24th, the recently announced "Student Lifelong Responsible Education" initiative is centered on the core goal of ensuring that public education comprehensively takes responsibility not only for academic achievement but also for the individual growth, career paths, and university admission of each student, through a system that spans from guaranteeing basic academic skills to the college entrance process.

In particular, there are plans to strengthen online school functions to expand subject selection in the high school credit system, and to significantly expand joint education programs to close educational gaps between regions.
As the election campaign heats up, voters are taking notice of the candidates' focus on detailed and concrete pledges rather than unproductive disputes. The series of customized "policy relays" for each field is a prime example.
Earlier, on April 20, in recognition of Disability Day, Kim announced a special education pledge centered on "personalized growth and achieving independence." He plans to establish AI-based edtech special education institutes in the Jeonnam and Gwangju regions, open new and expanded special schools, and operate care centers for students with disabilities during school vacations to completely eliminate care gaps.
On April 21, he also unveiled a pledge to strengthen basic math and science skills and foster future talent for the AI era. He aims to introduce a tailored support system for basic academic skills across all elementary, middle, and high school levels, thereby creating a Jeonnam and Gwangju-style talent development structure that links learning directly to actual job opportunities.
Local community support has continued as well. At the "ESG Education Vision Proclamation Ceremony" held on April 18, local education leaders and civil society jointly declared, "In the face of regional extinction risks, ESG-based education is the solution," adding, "Candidate Kim Daejung is the most qualified and prepared leader to drive this educational transformation."
Kim has put forward the realization of a "K-Education Special City of Korea" as the ultimate vision for this election. He defines the educational reintegration of Jeonnam and Gwangju as a "Revolution of Light" that will change the future of the region, and has expressed his ambition to develop the Integrated Special City into a mega-city with educational competitiveness on par with Seoul.
To support this, he has also presented detailed blueprints, including the concept of a "Democracy Education Special City" based on the historical identity of the Honam region, the establishment of the "DJ Education Care System" utilizing AI and big data, and the creation of an AI and energy-focused education valley.
