In line with the government's reorganization of the operation and evaluation of the local extinction response fund, they reviewed strategies to address population decline and discussed the direction for establishing the 2027 investment plan for the local extinction response fund.
During the meeting, participants discussed the direction for establishing the basic plan for responding to population decline areas, which will include Yeoncheon County's population decline response strategies for the next five years, in line with the government's national policy objectives. They also addressed policy changes to shift the focus of the local extinction response fund from facility-centered investments to program-based projects that residents can directly experience, such as care services, healthcare, transportation, education, and daily life services.
Accordingly, Yeoncheon County plans to develop customized projects tailored to different stages of life to expand the resident population and improve settlement conditions, while establishing a resident participation-based system for formulating investment plans.
In particular, through this strategic meeting, Yeoncheon County decided to shift the focus of its local extinction response fund from facility investment to policies that are more tangible to residents, placing emphasis on discovering projects that can simultaneously attract new residents and encourage long-term settlement.
