Incheon City to Organize Overhead Cables in Old Downtown, Improving Pedestrian Safety and Urban Aesthetics
On April 23, Incheon City announced plans to organize overhead power and communication lines (overhead cables) that compromise the safety of citizens and the cityscape in the old downtown area.
The city has secured 13.3 billion won in national funding and plans to complete maintenance by December this year for 4,206 utility poles, 1,635 communication poles, and 215 kilometers of cables across 21 areas in six districts.
The targeted areas for maintenance were selected through evaluation and deliberation by the Overhead Cable Maintenance Council, and include the vicinity of Inseong Elementary School (Jung-gu), Mukdong Children's Park (Michuhol-gu), Gaetgol Park (Namdong-gu), Inpyeong Automotive High School (Bupyeong-gu), Hyoseong-dong Elementary School (Gyeyang-gu), and Seoknam 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center (Seo-gu).
