Samyang Trading Changes Name to "SYTS"... Aiming to Become a Global Manufacturing Innovator
Expanding AI-Driven Innovation and R&D Investment
Samyang Trading announced on April 22 that it has changed its company name to SYTS ahead of its 70th anniversary, and has established a new corporate vision and future strategy centered on incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and making large-scale investments in research and development (R&D).
The new name, "SYTS," uses the initials of the previous company name, reflecting both the company's business scalability and future vision, while also addressing the limitations associated with the term "Trading" in its former name.
The new corporate identity (CI) features three vertical dots, referred to as a "vertical ellipsis." This symbolizes "more" and expansion in digital interface design, while also visually expressing SYTS's scalability and identity through the continuity of the brand and the multi-layered structure of leather hides. For its exclusive brand font, SYTS selected "Helvetica," which was launched in 1957—the same year the company was founded. The company explained that the functional and modern characteristics of Helvetica, which set the standard for industrialization and modern design, share the same historical foundation as the trust SYTS has built over the years.
SYTS expressed its ambition to become a "partner that provides unparalleled business solutions in the global market through technological insight," starting with this name change and rebranding initiative.
To this end, the company will promote AI-based quality innovation, as well as strengthen its R&D and design capabilities. SYTS plans to implement AI company-wide to optimize production facilities, establish a data-driven demand forecasting system to enable smart manufacturing processes, and pursue quality innovation to meet the needs of global clients. The company will also expand related investments, including increasing the size of its R&D center and opening a design house (showroom) by the end of 2026.
SYTS will also reinforce its eco-friendly systems and pursue management practices that foster co-prosperity with local communities. As part of its sustainable management (ESG) initiatives, the company will accelerate its transition into an "urban-friendly enterprise" in response to regional environmental changes. Plans include strengthening safety facilities at the Gunpo site and upgrading eco-friendly systems to improve the environment. In addition, starting this year, SYTS will expand regionally-linked social contribution activities, including job creation, to help develop local communities.
