Initiated last year, this volunteer activity has continued this year without interruption to ensure the health rights of medically vulnerable groups within the local community.
This year’s volunteer service drew particular attention as Shin Jeong, President of Chonnam National University Hospital and Professor of Neurosurgery, personally participated on site. President Shin carefully examined Goryoin patients suffering from neurosurgical diseases and provided direct medical care. Other specialists including Professor Kim Gwangseok (Plastic Surgery), Professor Yoon Hyunju (Cardiology), Professor Kim Yuil (Pulmonology), and Professor Kim Taeyoung (Obstetrics and Gynecology) also joined to deliver high-quality medical services.
In addition to the medical professionals, around 20 student volunteers from health-related fields and interpreter volunteers participated to ensure smooth operations. The interpreter volunteer team served as a communication bridge between the patients and medical staff, while the students supported with medical assistance and administrative tasks.
On that day, more than 40 patients—including Goryoin compatriots and foreign residents—visited the clinic. The medical volunteer team conducted detailed consultations and ultrasound examinations for patients with chronic and musculoskeletal diseases, and provided intravenous nutritional therapy and customized prescriptions according to each patient’s symptoms.
